Set up Context7 MCP in Continue

Pull up-to-date documentation and code examples for any library directly into your prompt context using the Context7 API.

1

Locate the config file

Continue reads MCP server configuration from the following file:

~/.continue/config.yaml

Create this file if it does not already exist.

2

Add the configuration

Add the following to your Continue config file:

yaml
mcpServers:
  - name: context7-mcp
    command: npx
    args:
      - -y
      - @upstash/context7-mcp
3

Set up environment variables

No environment variables needed. Context7 MCP works out of the box without any API keys or tokens.

4

Verify it works

Restart Continue. Context7 MCP should appear in your MCP server list with 2 tools available.

This server adds approximately 1,030 tokens to your context window for tool definitions.
