Set up Firebase MCP in Cursor

Manage Firebase projects, deploy Cloud Functions, query Firestore, configure Authentication, and access Crashlytics from your AI editor.

1

Locate the config file

Cursor reads MCP server configuration from the following file:

.cursor/mcp.json

Create this file if it does not already exist.

2

Add the configuration

Add the following to your Cursor config file:

json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "firebase-mcp": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "firebase-tools@latest",
        "mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}
3

Set up environment variables

No environment variables needed. Firebase MCP works out of the box without any API keys or tokens.

4

Verify it works

Restart Cursor. Firebase MCP should appear in your MCP server list with 30 tools available.

This server adds approximately 15,450 tokens to your context window for tool definitions.
