Set up Notion MCP in Claude Code

Access and manage Notion pages, databases, and blocks. Create content, query databases, and organize your workspace from your AI editor.

Locate the config file

Claude Code reads MCP server configuration from the following file:

~/.claude.json

Create this file if it does not already exist.

Add the configuration

You can configure Notion MCP using the CLI command or by editing the config file directly.

Option A: CLI command

Set up environment variables

Notion MCP requires the following environment variables:

Verify it works

Restart Claude Code. Notion MCP should appear in your MCP server list with 10 tools available.

This server adds approximately 5,150 tokens to your context window for tool definitions.
