Set up Turso MCP in Claude Code

Query and manage Turso-hosted LibSQL databases, run SQL statements, inspect schemas, and handle database operations from your AI editor.

Locate the config file

Claude Code reads MCP server configuration from the following file:

~/.claude.json

Create this file if it does not already exist.

Add the configuration

You can configure Turso MCP using the CLI command or by editing the config file directly.

Option A: CLI command

Set up environment variables

Turso MCP requires the following environment variables:

TURSO_DATABASE_URLRequired

Turso database URL

TURSO_AUTH_TOKENRequired

Turso authentication token

Verify it works

Restart Claude Code. Turso MCP should appear in your MCP server list with 9 tools available.

This server adds approximately 4,635 tokens to your context window for tool definitions.
