Set up Upstash MCP in Claude Code
Create and manage Upstash serverless Redis databases, list keys, run commands, and interact with your Upstash account using natural language.

Locate the config file
Claude Code reads MCP server configuration from the following file:
~/.claude.jsonCreate this file if it does not already exist.

Add the configuration
You can configure Upstash MCP using the CLI command or by editing the config file directly.

Set up environment variables
Upstash MCP requires the following environment variables:
UPSTASH_EMAILRequiredUpstash account email
UPSTASH_API_KEYRequiredUpstash management API key

Verify it works
Restart Claude Code. Upstash MCP should appear in your MCP server list with 10 tools available.
This server adds approximately 5,150 tokens to your context window for tool definitions.
