Set up Bitbucket MCP in Cursor

Interact with Atlassian Bitbucket workspaces, repositories, pull requests, and code search through the Bitbucket API.

1

Locate the config file

Cursor reads MCP server configuration from the following file:

.cursor/mcp.json

Create this file if it does not already exist.

2

Add the configuration

Add the following to your Cursor config file:

json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "bitbucket-mcp": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "@aashari/mcp-server-atlassian-bitbucket"
      ],
      "env": {
        "ATLASSIAN_BITBUCKET_USERNAME": "YOUR_ATLASSIAN_BITBUCKET_USERNAME",
        "ATLASSIAN_BITBUCKET_TOKEN": "YOUR_ATLASSIAN_BITBUCKET_TOKEN"
      }
    }
  }
}
3

Set up environment variables

Bitbucket MCP requires the following environment variables:

ATLASSIAN_BITBUCKET_USERNAMERequired

Bitbucket username or email

ATLASSIAN_BITBUCKET_TOKENRequired

Bitbucket app password or API token

4

Verify it works
