Set up Datadog MCP in Windsurf

Locate the config file

Windsurf reads MCP server configuration from the following file:

~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json

Create this file if it does not already exist.

Set up environment variables

Datadog MCP requires the following environment variables:

DD_API_KEYRequired

Datadog API key

DD_APP_KEYRequired

Datadog application key

Verify it works

Restart Windsurf. Datadog MCP should appear in your MCP server list with 15 tools available.

This server adds approximately 7,725 tokens to your context window for tool definitions.
