Locate the config file
Claude Code reads MCP server configuration from the following file:
~/.claude.jsonCreate this file if it does not already exist.

Add the configuration
You can configure Grafana MCP using the CLI command or by editing the config file directly.

Set up environment variables
Grafana MCP requires the following environment variables:
GRAFANA_URLRequiredGrafana instance URL
GRAFANA_API_KEYRequiredGrafana API key or service account token

Verify it works
Restart Claude Code. Grafana MCP should appear in your MCP server list with 43 tools available.
This server adds approximately 22,145 tokens to your context window for tool definitions.
