Set up WordPress MCP in Claude Desktop

Manage WordPress sites, create and edit posts, pages, and media. Handle themes, plugins, and site settings from your AI editor.

Locate the config file

Claude Desktop reads MCP server configuration from the following file:

~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

Create this file if it does not already exist.

Add the configuration

Add the following to your Claude Desktop config file:

Set up environment variables

WordPress MCP requires the following environment variables:

WORDPRESS_URLRequired

Verify it works

Restart Claude Desktop. WordPress MCP should appear in your MCP server list with 10 tools available.

This server adds approximately 5,150 tokens to your context window for tool definitions.

Set up WordPress MCP in other editors
